Role: Care Assistant
Location: York, at sites in Fulford, Heslington, and New Earswick
Salary: £26,000per year, or £26,000 per year if you have an NVQ 2 or above in Health & Social Care.
To ensure the highest standards of care and support are provided to residents.
To provide relationship centred care and support that contributes to a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led service.
Main Responsibilities:
SAFE
1. To contribute to the health, safety and wellbeing of the service (residents and others) by:
* Understanding and following policies and procedures
* Following correct reporting procedures in relation to health and safety and safeguarding
* Maintaining a safe and secure working environment
* Contributing to the risk assessment process
* Attending and completing all training and qualifications (statutory, mandatory and developmental).
EFFECTIVE
1. Follow care and support plans, reviewing where necessary to ensure they meet residents’ current needs and choices
2. Effective use of resources and equipment, e.g. hoists. This includes reporting of faults.
3. Working with specific residents as part of the key working system
4. To work in line with the Care Quality Commission Regulations ensuring people are provided with safe care which is of a high standard.
CARING
1. Contribute to a culture that promotes relationship centred care and support.
2. Deliver relationship centred care and support that treats people with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.
3. To actively engage with residents in conversation and meaningful occupation related to their lifestyle choices. Communicating at a level and pace that values the individual, respects their dignity and differences.
4. Contribute to a culture where both staff and residents are able to share ideas and be involved in decisions and choice.
RESPONSIVE
1. To liaise with relatives, friends and other agencies.
2. To ensure all care and support documentation is recorded and is accurate, factual, timely, clear and in line with policies and procedures.
1. To listen and learn from residents’ experience to continually improve the quality of service.
2. To embrace changes in the services as required.
3. To respond in a timely way to residents who are distressed and require support.
WELL LED
1. To support management of the service through good attendance, flexibility of working patters, good time keeping, attendance at team meetings, and by engaging in supervisions and appraisals.
2. To maintain the confidentiality of individuals and the service. This includes in verbal, and written communication and in the use of social media. This means ensuring we keep sensitive information about safe and not sharing information about people we support.
3. To work as part of a team that respects and supports each other.
4. To role model the expected values and behaviours, as highlighted within section 4 Values and Behaviours, at the end of this document.
5. To welcome, include and support new starters.
6. To work within an open and honest culture that admits and learns from mistakes.
7. To work positively with residents and colleagues from diverse backgrounds, examples include different ethnic backgrounds, different cultures, religions and beliefs and disabilities.
