Salary: £28,800 per year

Due to rapid growth, our established client is looking to expand upon their field-based sales team by bringing on a business development manager to play a pivotal role in meeting the company’s objectives and goals. With a low turnover of staff, our client is a progressive company who encourage organic career development within a medium sized, privately owned organisation within the travel sector.

The role:

The job will entail developing and growing business within the designated region and visiting targeted agents and other trade partners within a defined reporting structure. The role will be predominantly sales field based and ‘on the road’, there will also be time spent every three months at the Company’s Head Office to attend a quarterly sales meeting and to review performance.

While the main focus will be selling the Company’s core cruise product there may also be a requirement to sell other travel products within the Group portfolio although this will initially form a small part of the brief. Representation at major industry events and trade and consumer promotions is an essential part of this role which will also involve public speaking duties.

A proven sales record and the ability to communicate at all levels are essential requirements and the Business Development Manager must be well presented and articulate, self motivated and organised with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure with good time management skills. Knowledge of Microsoft word, excel and power point applications will also be a requirement and previous sales experience within the cruise industry would be an advantage. The job will also involve some weekend and evening work.

The successful candidate will receive an induction training programme involving ship visits, working in the reservations dept and within the Sales & Marketing Dept during this period.

Duties will include:

* Be conversant with the Company’s overall sales strategy, distribution plans, product positioning and brand objectives and have an appreciation of the British cruise market.

* Ongoing measurement and review of existing business, analyse new sales leads and exploit new sales opportunities and trends within the region with the aim of increasing sales against pre-defined sales targets and budgets.

* Managing existing key accounts and developing new clients within the region including setting pre-defined commercial targets, agreeing marketing campaigns and supporting the account to drive sales.

* Product and sales training to the travel trade (one to one or classroom style) as and when required.

* Attending client promotional events, exhibitions and cruise show days and in store promotions, hosting ship visits and attendance at trade and consumer promotional events such as the Daily Telegraph Cruise Show/ACE Convention etc.

The Package

* Basic Salary upto £28,800per annum
* Company vehicle, for business use
* Working hours 9am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work will be required to cover promotional events
* Concessionary travel after six months of service
* Immediate start available
* Holiday entitlement of 22 days per year + bank holidays
* Workplace pension
