Location: Covering Central London

Salary: Up to £39k per annum DOE (Up to £63k OTE) + travel allowance, laptop, phone etc

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

 

Role Summary:

We are looking for a proactive and driven Mid-Market Business Development Manager to lead our expansion efforts within a specific geographical area. This role involves identifying, qualifying, and securing new business opportunities, focusing on companies with an annual spend of £20,000 to £100,000 and an employee headcount of 150 to 500. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving sales and margin targets while building strong relationships and guiding the new business sales cycle from inception to closure.

 

Business Development Manager Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Achieve weekly and monthly activity targets as outlined in the Mid-Market New Business strategy, negotiating fixed-term contracts to meet these goals.
  • Manage and nurture a defined list of prospects, converting them into high-potential opportunities based on set targets.
  • Secure a specific number of new customers within the Mid-Market or Contract status within the designated area.
  • Take charge of implementing and establishing new accounts, with a focus on increasing customer spend through effective product penetration and gross profit strategies.
  • Ensure meticulous management of all administrative tasks, guaranteeing the accuracy and efficiency of all reported information.
  • Collaborate closely with existing business colleagues on new business proposals and seamless contract transitions.
  • Identify and target relevant business accounts across various commercial sectors, networking with procurement professionals and key contacts.
  • Lead contract negotiations, including tender processes and e-auctions, presenting a compelling Workplace Solution proposition with a strategic pricing approach.
  • Develop pricing and technical strategies to gain a competitive edge and achieve new business sales and margin results in line with business and divisional KPIs.

Person Profile (Skills/Personality/Communication):

  • Demonstrated ability in sales, with a successful track record of winning new business at the Field Sales level or above.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the sales and new business hunting process, coupled with strong commercial acumen and a successful history at the Mid-Market level.
  • Excellent communication skills that leave a lasting positive impression.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to engage effectively with individuals at all levels within a company hierarchy.
  • Thorough understanding of Lyreco’s invoicing and management reports, effectively communicating their benefits to potential customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, at an advanced level.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
