Simply Education are working alongside a friendly Primary school in Caerphilly. The school has an exciting new opportunity for a Teaching Assistant with British Sign Language to start as soon as possible.

This is a great mainstream school with a long standing senior management team committed to achieving an excellent learning environment for the children. They keep to very high standards in the school with a caring ethos where every child is put first to achieve the best outcome for the individual pupil.

You will need BSL Level 2 qualification and the school are ideally looking for someone who has previous experience of working one to one with a hearing impaired pupil, using sign language to communicate effectively. With the belief that every child deserves the very best education and a safe and caring environment in which they can thrive, the ideal candidate will be highly motivated, have the ability to engage with the pupil and will need to support their learning, progress and inclusion.

Your BSL skills combined with your positive and enthusiastic approach to working in partnership with the class teacher will provide the means for the pupil to reach their potential. You will need to feel confident within a classroom environment and be able to take direction from a class teacher as you will be partly responsible for encouraging the positive emotional, social and academic development of the pupil. Essential skills include excellent communication and relationship building skills.

As the successful Teaching Assistant you will need to:
– Hold a British Sign Language Qualification Level 2 minimum
– Have a level 1, 2, 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or 6 months experience
– Be able to deal with challenging behaviour and a creative approach is necessary
– Be able to use your own initiative and work as part of a team
– Be able to adapt with ease to new environments
– Have an outstanding awareness of safeguarding, equality and diversity
– Be friendly and approachable
