Bridge Inspector / Tester Engineer

My client is a multi-armed group specialising in Rail, Telecommunications, Underpinning, Highways, Waterways, Domestic Foundations and Civil Engineering.

Due to an influx of projects there are major opportunities with their ASC Highways and regional Railway clients, and they wish to recruit Bridge Inspection and Tester Engineers for immediate contract or permanent employment.

With offices based all around the UK, the successful candidate will be based at their nearest office or working from home.

Job Purpose

The candidate(s) will be required to undertake inspections of bridge structures, detailed examinations of steel, concrete and masonry bridges.

Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual should ideally:-
• Hold a recognised qualification in civil or structural engineering ( other related qualifications )
• Be able to demonstrate current compliance with the STE competencies for structures examinations in accordance with the Network Rail’s Standard NR/SP/CTM/017 entitled ‘Competence & Training in Civil Engineering’.
• Hold a current PTS accreditation for Rail work.
• Be experienced in preparation of examination reports and uploading of this information to SMIS databases.
• Have a minimum experience of 18 months in bridge / structures examinations. NB – The Candidate needs to clearly demonstrate this level of experience on their CV.
• Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Comply with a full Medical Assessment
• Be results focused with ability to work on own initiative
• Have the ability to think strategically
• Be fully proficient in all MS Office applications
• Be willing to work weekends and midweek nights as required.
• Hold a full clean driving license.
Other posts require Specialist skills, which are:-
• HSE certified surface supply diving qualification and in-date medical fitness to dive certification along with First Aid at Work certification is preferable.
• Trained for high risk confined space entry.
