Salary: £28,800 – £33,600 per year
My client is a well-established accountancy practice with an enviable client base who are consistently growing and thriving year on year. They are innovators within their field and pride themselves on having a happy workforce. They are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join the team. This is a new role due to an increase in their client base and as the company continues to grow, career progression is in your hands.
Reporting to the Account Manager / Accountant your role will be to take responsibility and be the specialist for bookkeeping and payroll in the practice, delivering both with high levels of experience, knowledge, accuracy and efficiency for clients and colleagues.
Your Duties will include:
- Reviewing and posting any invoices
- Xero Bank reconciliations for a portfolio of clients to 100% accuracy
- Chasing clients for missing information in relation to their bookkeeping, VAT and CIS
- Completing debtor’s checks, creditors checks and invoicing
- Processing VAT returns, supporting the Apprentice by taking on more complex issues
- Liaising with employers and employees where required to resolve all queries
- Acting as a mentor or buddy to the Apprentice (s) to support and develop them in their role(s)
- Ensuring any legislation changes are incorporated and shared with the team
- Complying with GDPR and other relevant legislation regarding confidentiality
- Any other tasks which will support the rest of the team to deliver an effective service to clients
- Utilise own initiative and judgement in all tasks to ensure the smooth running of the Company
- To act as ambassador and in the best interests of the Company
- Working consistently to the legal requirements for health and safety
- Providing full information to the Directors
- Be responsible for the completion of additional tasks relating to your role upon request by Directors
- Attendance and full participation in all training relevant for your role with a willingness to personally develop
To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate:
- A good level of proven previous bookkeeping experience gained within practice or industry
- AAT Level 3 qualified or qualified through experience
- Strong IT skills
- Working knowledge of cloud accounting software Xero
- Excellent Interpersonal relationship skills
- Effective time management skills
- Skilled and effective communicator and connector
- Able to remain resilient when faced with challenging situations
- Able to adapt to changes in systems and technology
- The ability to effectively delegate
- Maintain your own working knowledge and awareness of legislation updates and best practice
- A high level of attention to detail
