Body CAD Designer

We are currently looking for a Body CAD Designer to work for a major Automotive organisation, engineering, strategic and environmental consultancy based in East Anglia

Job Title: Body CAD Designer

Hours: 40 per week

The Role:
*Leading a small team of engineers and designers to deliver technical solutions to project teams within required cost, quality and time targets
*Mentoring design engineers in the best practice application of CAD system in line with Client standard operation and supporting the development of new design practices and the implementation of new CAD systems and software in conjunction with CAD Applications group

Responsibilities:
1. Technical ownership of vehicle subsystems or component design within a project:
a) Preparation of concept information
b) Generation of BOM including weight information
c) Support to the Project team in the generation of the Engineering Timing Release Schedule
d) Tracking of progress relative to the ETRS and identifying and taking actions in order to achieve target dates
e) Providing technical direction to the CAD designers
f) Creation, technical sign-off and release of component drawings, assembly drawings, exploded views, installation drawings and data packs including DVP’s and FMEA’s to support project requirements
g) Providing support to the purchasing function in the selection of vendors
h) Support to the Project team in the creation of the typical section book and vehicle package model.
i) Transmittal of engineering information to downstream users as required
j) Fit and function testing of subsystem components
k) Collating of test results and concern reports and generation of resulting modifications
l) Mentoring design engineers in best practise methods

2. Support to the department:
a) Representing the engineering function to clients, other areas if required
b) Support to the C.E. in generating planning and proposal information if required
c) Support to the department in achieving the requirements of quality systems approval (QS 9000, Q1 etc)
d) Support in the development of new CAD systems and processes

Qualifications and Experience:
Essential Criteria:
*HNC or equivalent
*CATIA V5 to a high level including surfacing, DMU and kinematics
*Enthusiasm, communication and presentation
*Previous experience in the automotive industry
*Able to lead meetings
*Highly motivated
*Dynamic
*Must have good communication skills and the ability to work in a team
