Behaviour and Independence Support Worker based in Oswestry, Shropshire offering a salary of between £26,000(dependent on qualifications and experience)

We currently have an exciting opportunity for Behaviour and Independence Support Workers to join our Behaviour Support Team. Reporting to our Psychology & Counselling Manager you will work in a therapeutic way to encourage students to assume responsibility for managing themselves in learning and social environments.

The role of Behaviour and Independence Support Worker:

* Provide intervention with students in need of one to one behavioural support
* Work within the person-centered approach in order to promote and reinforce self esteem 
* Work collaboratively with students to develop non defensive communication
* Support students to dismantle patterns of negative behaviour
* Design and implement daily/weekly positive behaviour support plans
* Support students in developing personal care skills
* Carry out general duties in residence and learning environments
* Contribute to the on-going behaviour assessment of students
* Provide counselling support to a fixed group of students

The ideal Behaviour Support Worker:

* Experience of working in a similar role
* Qualifications in psychology, counselling or related fields would be an advantage although not essential
* Excellent communication, motivation and team working skills
* Ability to use ICT effectively
