Befriending Manager
Location: Buckinghamshire
Salary: £26,000per yearactual per year
Hours: 35 per week
Contract type: Permanent
Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. There will be 850,000 people with dementia in the UK by 2015 with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025.
You will possess NVQ level 3 or demonstrable experience and be prepared to work towards level 4, or equivalent.
Experience of managing and motivating volunteers and leading a team is essential, and it is desirable that you have an understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their carers.
Befriending is providing friendship and encouragement to the client, whether a person with dementia or their carer. A befriending scheme initiates, supports and monitors a relationship between a volunteer befriender and a carefully matched client. The aim is to offer companionship and support, not a care service.
Alzheimer’s Society is committed to equal opportunities.
