We are looking for Catering Assistants to join our bank staff working at Sandford at our restaurant within the retirement community. Joining our Bank of casual staff allows you to choose shifts that are convenient to you and required by St Monica Trust. You will be required to work a range of hours during the week to include 9.00am-3.00pm as required. To find out more about Bank working, please click here.

Working within the kitchen and restaurant of our retirement community for older people, the role involves a range of kitchen and front of house duties including:

– Preparing and serving food and beverages to our residents, their families, other St Monica Trust employees and external visitors;
– Preparing trays and trolleys for internal meetings and events;
– Cleaning kitchen areas including ovens, fryers, hobs dishwashers;
– Maintaining stock of dry goods;
– Washing up cutlery, crockery and kitchen utensils.

What we’re looking for:

Previous experience of Food Hygiene, Catering and Health and Safety would be useful for this role however we do offer full training. Naturally we’re looking for a person with exceptional customer service skills including the ability to interact and build a good rapport with residents and other customers. While it’s not essential to have worked within a care setting, you will have an understanding of older people’s needs. Alongside this you’ll be able to demonstrate patience and flexibility.

This is a fast-paced environment – the restaurant and kitchens have very busy periods – as such the role needs someone who can use their initiative, work well in a team and be able to think on their feet.
