This associate mechanical design engineer role is to be part of a building services design team delivering innovative and creative solutions.  Project types range from science and research, advanced manufacturing, sport, education, defence, commercial and residential sectors.

Responsibilities, Associate Mechanical Design Engineer

  • Managing the resource of the team
  • Taking client briefs and generating fee proposals
  • Managing the fees on a project including raising invoices
  • Assisting developing and growing the team by reviewing prospective candidates and managing the interview process
  • Working as part of a design team delivering detailed design
  • Overseeing and supervising the installation of building systems and specifying maintenance and operating procedures
  • Liaising closely with other professionals, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors of in-house and external project teams
  • Attending a range of project group and technical meetings
  • Advising clients and architects on energy use and conservation in a range of buildings and sites, aiming to minimise the environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint
  • Peer review of colleagues works

Qualifications

  • Accredited Building Services degree or higher educational qualification (HNC/HND)
  • Experience with running projects from conception through to completion including calculations, drawings, specifications, etc
  • REVIT , AutoCAD experience (experience with IES modelling and Revit would be an advantage)
  • Post degree qualification experience in Building Services or Mechanical engineering, and ideally be working towards Chartership.
