Associate Electrical Engineer

Salary: £72,000 – £84,000 per year

The Opportunity

A rare and exciting new opportunity exists with this leading national multi-disciplinary Consultancy for an Associate Electrical Engineer with experience working in a design consultancy and/or experience of working within a contractor design in environment. You will be responsible for the development and production of outline and detailed design deliverables on combined Mechanical / Electrical / Public Health schemes within the building Environment.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be experienced in Electrical Building Services Engineering dealing with national projects. The ideal candidate shall reside in West Midlands or the London area and have a proven track record of delivering Electrical projects to the level applied for in the following sectors -: Healthcare, Education, Care homes, industrial, retail, commercial, and other public service organisations. You will be responsible for leading a team of Electrical Engineers while focussing on bringing in new projects and growing our London region.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Working with other Engineers, Associates and where applicable the Project Director to ensure scheme designs are value engineered and adhere to client specifications
• Prepare and review detailed engineering calculations and solutions from inception to completion of schemes utilising design partners, individual knowledge, site installation and construction personnel.
• Closely coordinate design production between the inhouse design teams, external design companies and the supply chain.
• Liaison with client engineering staff or where applicable their design consultants to ensure designs are approved in accordance with the timescales stipulated within the contract.
• Attend internal and external design reviews and where applicable progress meetings alongside other Engineers and on the schemes
• Provide mentoring and support to your team

The Person

• An industry applicable, HND, HNC, ONC level or equivalent in Electrical Building Services.
• Working from RIBA stages 0 to 7, (full detailed design).
• Calculations / design Compliance
• Lighting design / calculations
• Cable sizing design /calculations
• Switchgear design and selectivity/calculations
• Fire alarm design/calculations
• Wiring containment design and calculations
• Good understanding and working knowledge with CIBSE, British standards and (HTM preferred) guidelines.
• Undertaking site surveys for tender purposes through to project completion and snagging exercises.
• Good understanding and literacy in Amtech, Relux and/or DIAlux lighting and Microsoft packages.
• Able to work under pressure and meet short deadlines.
• Have a UK full driving licence.
