Assistant Underwriter

Working for a successful, privately-owned underwriting agency business. Our client specialises in dealing with the insurance needs of businesses in the building, construction and associated trades. While they have expanded their product offering from liability to include material damage (property) packages and professional indemnity,

You will be supporting underwriting staff, underwrite, administer & develop business from supporting brokers, within personal Underwriting Authority, including new & renewal business and at all times, seeking to achieve an underwriting profit.

What will the role involve?

New and renewal business risk assessment and underwriting recommendations and proposals
Support senior underwriters in the running of accounts
Compliance with the terms and conditions of all relevant binding authority agreements
Administration and accurate and proper documentation of all business transactions
MTA, Renewal and new business processing
Credit Control assistance
Administrative back-up
What experience is needed/who do we need?

Basic knowledge of Commercial Underwriting including Property, Liability, Contractors All Risks, PI, D&O and Excess of Loss
Aware of service standards and business processes for the role
Exceptional attention to detail in checking and signing off policy documents
An understanding and experience of delegated binding authority guides
Good IT skills particularly in MS Word and Excel
Good communication, sales and negotiation skills
