The Manchester College is the Largest Further Education College in the United Kingdom and the largest single provider of 16-19, adult and higher education in Greater Manchester.

The Opportunity

Provide outstanding strategic educational leadership in the development, planning, delivery, and monitoring of the curriculum and of the student experience.

You will be responsible for the leadership of the department’s management team, as well as resources within the department. As an active member of the College’s Senior Leadership Team, you’ll work closely with other Assistant Principals, Heads of Student Experience and Principalship to deliver the College’s strategy and objectives also lead on design and implementation of the Employability, Partnership and Skills strategy cross the College.

The Role Responsibilities

As Assistant Principal in Employability you will be responsible for the following.

  • Ensure all students have access to a high quality, sector related work placement and where appropriate other employability focused activities.
  • Create and establish key national, regional, and local strategic links with external partners across civic, community, employer, and education sectors.
  • Working with other areas of the college ensure a calendar of employability and related events and activities. This includes cross-college participation, are planned, delivered, recorded, and evaluated for impact.
  • Lead on Labour market intelligence providing curriculum areas with accurate data and support to inform their curriculum planning and delivery in line with Greater Manchester priorities.
  • Nurture and develop new and innovative ideas into Employability, Partnership, and skills curriculum delivery.
  • Oversee stakeholder engagement across all curriculum areas and respond to their needs and those of the local economy to ensure the curriculum is employer informed.
  • Work with Assistant Principals, Service Areas managers, Directors of curriculum, Heads of Department, and Heads of Student Experience to ensure effective stakeholder engagement across all curriculum areas.
  • Use data to analyse trends, improve performance and provide concise reports for staff and senior leaders as required.
  • Deploy internal resources and manage budgets effectively in order to meet key priorities.
  • Self-assessment and monitoring of quality improvement plans to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Ensure robust, confidential systems are in place to provide and monitor employability activity at all levels.
  • Lead and manage the Directors of Employability, Partnership and Skills.
  • Support embedding of safeguarding policy and procedures to ensure the safeguarding of all students off campus whilst completing work related activity.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Teaching Qualification or current relevant industry experience.
  • Degree or relevant professional qualification.
