Introduction to the role
SITA UK is looking to recruit Assistant Ports & Shipping Manager to join our Ports & Shipping team in Maidenhead.
About the role
Reporting to the Ports & Shipping Manager, the Assistant Ports & Shipping Manager will be responsible
• To support the efficient and effective delivery to Ports & Shipping services to internal & external customers.
• To ensure the administrative element of Ports & Shipping (Container and Bulk) is completed on time and accurately.
• Manage the day to day operations related to Ports & Shipping services
The successful candidate will work closely with the other members of the Ports & Shipping team.
Key responsibilities of the role include
• To liaise with Processing sites, Material Sourcing Waste Flow Planners, Logistics Haulage Planners and Logistics Internal Bulk Haulage operations across the regions, in order to ensure an in depth understanding of stock, waste flow/service delivery requirements (daily/weekly/monthly).
• To support all to Ports & Shipping services – as requested by the Material Sourcing Waste Flow Team and Processing teams on a daily weekly monthly basis.
• To ensure that all required arrangements for to Ports & Shipping services are met to ensure materials get to the end market on time and as agreed with the Customer with the most efficient cost effective solution.
• To liaise with Material Sourcing Waste Flow Planners, Traders and Processing Division on Stock holding site requirements for all materials within the region and to make arrangements for stock to be held on internal/external sites as required.
• To deal with telephone enquiries and handle internal and external communications efficiently, referring complaints or queries to the Ports and Shipping Manager where appropriate.
• To scrutinize weekly/monthly supplier accounts to ensure they are accurate.
• Assist in the production of KPIs on a weekly/monthly basis.
• To accurately record all tonnages on Clear -Shipping and stock held at Port (and/or other systems as developed and introduced) in order to ensure correct invoicing.
• To contribute to the improvement of systems and working procedures within the Distribution Division in liaison with the Ports and Shipping Manager to ensure on an ongoing basis that they are as efficient and effective as possible.
Qualifications and experience
• Experience of working with the Environment team (Permit/TFS/ Compliance) is essential.
• Flexible approach to working hours and excellent communication skills.
• Highly motivated and flexible in your approach to work with an ability to work on you own initiative and as part of a team
• Experience in the Logistics/Transport/Supply chain industry
• Knowledge of systems and practices used in the shipping industry
• Computer literate in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Hold a valid driving licence
