I am looking for an AAT qualified Assistant Accountant to join my client’s Consumer Finance Team. You will directly support the Finance Business partner to ensure the timely and accurate completion of management accounts for the department in addition to reporting results to the senior finance team and managing relationships with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, analyse and provide commentary for client sales and margin as part of the month end process.
• Complete month end tasks including posting journals, performing relevant analysis and preparing month end management information packs.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, raising journals as required and highlighting any potential risks and opportunities.
• Build key relationships with financial and non-financial internal stakeholders, including Account Managers and Directors.
• Develop a sound understanding of the wider business to enable insightful analysis.
• Collaborate with Account Managers to provide high quality information to a large range of key customers.
• Support the Finance Business Partner and Account Managers with annual sales and margin budgets and reforecasts.
• Assist with the audit process by understanding and fulfilling the Auditor’s requests within specified time deadlines.
• Support continual process improvements, adding value wherever possible.

Requirements:

• AAT L4 Qualified or part CIMA qualified, with a desire to continue study and progress in an accounting role.
• Previous experience in a similar Assistant Management Accounting capacity, ideally in a consumer-based or retail organisation.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• A positive and proactive personality with the ability to work well both independently and as part of a senior finance team.
• A high level of attention to detail, with strong analytical skills.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge gained through both study and experience.
• Advanced Excel skills
• Proven experience of advancing and improving processes, with a commitment to supporting future business development plans.
