Assistant Gardner / Groundsman

Our client is a looking for a reliable Gardeners/Groundsman Assistant to work between the engineering site and the private residence of the MD.

Candidates who apply must have gardening experience and have keen interest in the field.

Experience/ Knowledge
• Previous experience in private horticulture.
• Experience and knowledge of grass maintenance, border maintenance, hedge maintenance, pruning of trees and shrubs, particularly roses.

The main tasks of the role are outlined below:
• Assist with grass cutting, emptying bins, weed control and leaf raking.
• Planting new trees, flowers and various plants.
• Maintenance of plant tubs and baskets.
• Making sure that all garden equipment is correctly cleaned.
• Seeding plants and watering them at correct times.
• Clearing rubbish and litter away from the garden and grounds.
• Helping to produce various designs and layouts of garden landscapes.
• To ensure a safe working environment for everyone working in the gardens.
• Maintenance of plants/flowers etc. in greenhouses and flowerbeds.
• Clean & maintain outside buildings and grounds as and when required.
• Maintenance and general repairs to garden equipment.
• Ad hoc general maintenance and building repairs.
• Pruning of trees and shrubs, particularly roses.
• Chauffeuring duties may be required from time to time.

Candidates MUST be able to provide 2 check able work reference and one personal reference.

Hours of Work
40 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 08.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
The post holder needs to have flexibility to work over a multiple of shifts.
