About this Role:
Assistant Design Manager required by this leading national main contractor to work with the lead Design Manager in coordinating the design process for a £15m new build student accommodation scheme in Southampton.
You will assist and be involved in the Design Management role to include: Review of technical information, assessment for compliance with contractors proposals, building regulations, client requirements, contractors proposals and budget; Clash detection; Issue resolution; Value engineering; Liaison with architects and consultants; Liaison and review of design information with specialist sub-contractors; Management of the design process during the pre-construction phase; Regular liaison with client, architect, consultants and the construction teams throughout construction; document control; Ensuring the timely flow of information throughout.
This is an Assistant role, so will involve training, development and mentoring in the role.
About the Company/Client/Project:
The role is with the regional office of a national main contractor group, with experience and a proven track record in the delivery of medium sized new build and refurbishment schemes in the education, healthcare and commercial sectors.
Requirements including certificates and Qualifications:
Ideally from a Site Management background, looking to move into the DM role, you will possess good communication and negotiations skills, basic planning and problem solving ability, initiative, and a positive approach.
You will ideally have several year`s experience working as an Assistant/Site Manager with a main contractor, with a keen interest in and aptitude for reading drawings, looking ahead, spotting and resolving potential issues, considering buildability, etc.
You will ideally be familiar with the principles and processes of the design management function, and keen to learn and develop into the full design management role.
