The Asset Performance Engineer will work alongside Performance Optimisation, Operation and Maintenance and Digitalisation team to deliver world class asset engineering performance from the CES fleet through a deep understanding of energy technology (Energy Centre, distribution network, customer heat interface units and metering, and heat pumps).
This role will sit within Commercial Planning team, successful candidate will be working with performance and operational teams to oversee end to end projects that deliver enhancements and improvements across the fleet of assets such as the customer experience, financial commitments as well as sustain long-term technical integrity of our district energy schemes.
Also pivotal to this role, you’ll be expected to deliver regular ESCO contractual KPIs reporting across our portfolio and be able to articulate the performance status to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include
- Through a deep understanding of energy technology (Energy Centre, distribution network, customer heat recovery units) and commercial astute deliver enhancements and improvements across the CE fleet of assets to enhance the customer experience, financial performance and long-term technical integrity of all the energy centres.
- Create and develop performance tracking tools to assess the technical integrity of our CES fleet of assets
- Produce ESCO contractual KPIs (heat demand, thermal losses, co-efficiency, carbon intensity factor in line with SAP)
- Diagnose plant issues through the analysis of performance data, work collaboratively with operational and performance team to agree improvement plan and carry out assessment on post corrective works.
- Present performance results in a coherent manner to Operations Management Team and direct to the Head of CES.
- Work with Digital and Data engineering team to enhance the completeness of insight metering data across the CES portfolio.
- Actively shape the commercial environment, harnessing opportunities around commodity prices, electrical import/export trading, legislative changes and environmental policies.
- Seek opportunities to benchmark performance both inside and outside of E.ON, proactively looking for opportunities to learn.
- Influence stakeholders across E.ON (including EEM, VPP and in similar businesses across multiple regions within E.ON Group) to ensure CES is seen as a top performer in energy technology.
- Support the Operations and Management team in renegotiation of key contracts with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work effectively with the Construction and Projects team to incorporate learning’s into future projects.
- Work with the Sales team to ensure engineering reality is reflected in commercial models.
What we need from you
Essential
- Educated to Degree level in Engineering or Science, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge and experience of commercial and technical performance in power/heat plant including optimisation techniques.
- Ability to develop a strategic approach, gain support and commitment to deliver from within the business.
- The ability to multitask, maintain focus under pressure and ensure accuracy and attention to detail at all times.
- Strong project management and leadership skills.
- Excellent communications skills: written, verbal, presentation.
- Strong team working skills with the ability to quickly build effective working relationships.
- Developed critical and technical reasoning skills.

- Experience of challenging the accepted ways of doing things to push things forward.
Desirable
- A good working knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation and standards to IOSH or equivalent.
- Working towards Chartered Engineer Status (expected to be achieved within 2 years).
- Stakeholder awareness with excellent networking, influencing and rapport building skills.
- NEBOSH Certificate or IOSH management safely.
- Ability to work across organisational and international cultures.
- Chartered Member of a relevant Institution or professional body or actively working towards membership
