Access Apprenticeships are seeking an experienced assessor to join our rapid growing work-based learning team located in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in the assessment process supporting Apprentices to achieve the qualification in their relevant occupational sector. The basic salary is generous, with a three-tier non-contractual commission performance based package attached.

You will be required to take a caseload of learners, starting with 7 and increasing to 14 within a three-month period. You will regularly visit the learners at their place of work, provide remote support and also deliver technical skill development sessions. These sessions will take place on one-day a week at Heath Mill Studios in Birmingham. You will be responsible for arranging work place appointments so there is flexibility in the role and effective time and self-management skills are essential.

Purpose

To manage a caseload of Apprentices within a creative industry framework; specifically creative and digital media/social media and digital marketing. To provide training, teaching and support to Apprentices on vocational programmes within the workplace. To assess Apprentices to the highest internal and external quality standards, in accordance with Access Apprenticeships’ and awarding body criteria.

Duties

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of Apprentices;
  • Fully induct Apprentices to include the initial assessment in the workplace;
  • Design and deliver learning opportunities to optimise learning and achievement for Apprentices in your caseload;
  • Instruct Apprentices in relevant core and underpinning knowledge and techniques;
  • Seek evidence that learning has taken place;
  • Review each learning opportunity for effectiveness and take appropriate action to improve the learning opportunity, where possible;
  • Assist Apprentices in the collection, presentation and recording of ‘evidence’ of skills and knowledge as required in a timely and efficient manner;
  • Generate and maintain appropriate Apprentice and other records; assessment and test results, data and statistics.
  • Maintain an accurate learner contact register.
  • Report to the Apprenticeship Manager on a monthly basis with regard to Apprentice progress;
  • Develop, with the Apprentice individual learning plans and set appropriate targets for individuals throughout their programme;
  • Comply with awarding body, internal and external verification procedures;
  • Ensure knowledge of standards and occupational competence remains current;
  • Contribute to the review of the quality of provision and implementation of any changes through liaison with the Apprenticeship Manager;
  • To support, contribute to and take personal responsibility for implementing and promoting Access Apprenticeships’ commitment to Equality and Diversity;
  • To apply Access Apprenticeships own Safeguarding policy and practices
  • To cover absences of colleagues to maintain continuity and achievement in agreement with Line Manager;
  • Any other relevant duties agreed with the Line Manager.

Essential Skills – Assessed at application/interview

  • D32, D33, D36, A1/2, iMedia or TAQA Qualification(s).
  • Health & safety in the workplace knowledge.
  • English, Maths and ICT GCSE or other level 2 equivalent
  • Good IT, numeracy and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Minimum of two years experience in creative industries.
  • Previous experience of delivering NVQ training
  • Good knowledge of equal opportunities considerations both in an
  • Educational, and workplace setting.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality assurance processes.

Desirable Skills

  • Training or teaching qualification (e.g. CTLLS)
  • Experience of liaising with employers.
  • Approved basic health & safety certificate
  • Numeracy, Literacy and ICT at level 3.
  • Internal Verifier qualification (D34, V1, etc)
  • Sales experience.
  • of supporting individuals with learning difficulties.
