We are currently looking for a number of enthusiastic mechanical assembly technicians to join our Engineering client near Uxbridge, Middlesex
Role
To undertake a variety of processes including the detailed assembly of sheet metal components and associated assemblies involving metals, composites and plastics using traditional manual craft skills, to the required quality standards and the production schedule
1. Undertake tasks as defined in the attached Appendix under the direction of the Cell Leader
2. Understand and use the process specifications and apply the appropriate controls during manufacture including date sensitive compounds, calibrated items, batch controls, build procedures and material specifications.
3. To accurately interpret engineering drawings and work instructions/build plans so that Part Numbers, Drawing Issues, relevant ADR’s, process specification and finishes can be accurately identified and applied.
4. To manage/assist in the successful implementation of ongoing Lean Initiatives including:
• 5S activities
• Continuous Improvement programmes
5. To be conversant with and employ appropriate techniques as specified on the job cards relevant to specific components such that work is undertaken according to requirements so that:
• Processes are carried out in accordance with laid down SOP’s within the Department
• The job kit has been checked to make sure it contains all the necessary components
• Required quality standards are achieved
• All relevant Health and Safety regulations are adhered to at all times including Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, SSW’s arising from RA’s/COSHH and Material Safety Data Sheets
• Work is completed in accordance with required work schedules
• Productivity is maintained so that the effectiveness and efficiency of the department is at the highest level.
Some duties will include:
Conduct bench fitting and build of detailed assemblies including; installation of a variety of threaded inserts and locking pins, jig drilling, taper reaming, thread locking and crimping, riveting using manual techniques, as well as mechanised taumel orbital riveting and spin riveting processes
Fabricate and assemble sub assemblies using build jigs, manual riveting techniques and pneumatic rivet presses
Conduct heat treatment, (annealing and age hardening) of components to strictly defined specifications. Use chart recording to qualify the process
Utilise Royalite plastic sheet and vacuum forming techniques to produce head pad assemblies. Fit trimmings using bonding and sealing agents
Skills & Knowledge
• Broad experience of reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Basic background in H&S policies and procedures.
• Experience in one or more of the following; riveting processes, operating vertical milling machines, gluing/bonding processes, presses or injection molding.
