Homelessness prevention Officer

South East England

Contract (6 months)

Our client, a west midlands local authority is looking for a homelessness prevention officer with experience dealing with vulnerable adults and sound knowledge and understanding

of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 S.184 and section 7 the Housing act 1987 to join a small team for a 6 month period.

Main responsibilities:

Accommodate and ensure anyone facing homelessness is dealt with and given appropriate advice in line with legislation
Assist any tenants in public housing with solutions that would allow them to remain in their existing homes or finding suitable alternative housing
Conducting Interviews with individuals facing homelessness and offering alternative housing options.

Criteria

Experience within Homelessness Prevention as you will be expected to resolve homeless issues under section 6 and 7 of the Housing Act and the homelessness prevention act 2017, section 184.
Knowledge and understanding of directly applying homelessness legislation in a local authority setting as the manager.
Understanding of issuing section 184 decisions with little guidance and to be able to interview clients and assess their applications quickly and accurately
Experience with working with Single Homeless and Rough Sleepers
