Autistic Spectrum Disorder teacher required in Leeds

Are you a confident and engaging ASD teacher? Do you have a real passion for helping every child reach their full potential? Are you able to differentiate your lessons for a variety of abilities?

TeacherActive are seeking an ASD teacher to teach a small class of Secondary students. This fantastic school is looking for someone with a structured approach to teaching, thorough in their lesson planning and keen to take a lead role in the development of children who may be non-verbal and/or exhibiting behavioural challenges.

Experience in an ASD setting is not essential, but desirable, as the needs of the students can be quite complex and you must be able to provide your own planning. Prior experience with TEACCH, Makaton and PECS would also be ideal. The school is dedicated to the progress of students’ academic, emotional and physical well-being, and teachers who are able to introduce new and inspiring learning concepts are very much welcome.

This is a rewarding role and requires applicants to have a background of teaching children with ASD. The role is part time on a week by week contract with the opportunity to go longer term for the right ASD teacher.

The ideal ASD teacher will be:

A qualified teacher (QTS) with ASD experience
Resilient and patient
Able to work with both groups and one-to-one
