Arabic Speaking Teaching Assistant

Salary: £26,000 per year

Looking for a rewarding role in a local Cardiff High School that could positively impact on a child’s life? We are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant, to work on a full-time and long-term basis in a 2:1 setting for vulnerable child.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be working to support a year 8 pupil to ensure that everyday experiences and opportunities for incidental learning and extension of language are built upon so that learning is reinforced in a variety of contexts. While this child has care needs, these will already be catered for within the school. You will work with the pupil to help them understand their frustrations, and how to work through/resolve them for a positive outcome, ensuring that they feel protected and listened to.

Your role is to enable the pupil to experience achievement, independence and self determination.

You will encourage the pupil to engage in learning activities by:

Work outside lessons modifying curriculum materials to enable the pupil to access information in an appropriate format.

* Post-learn and Pre learn with the child so they have an understanding of the lesson before it starts so that they can then work independently with the correct modified work.

* Coordinate with teachers to adapt lessons for the pupil and ensure proper understanding of lesson objectives.

* Carry out observational and practical activities to help accelerate an aspect of the pupil’s development that is holding back their learning.

* Spend time reinforcing learning and skills with the pupil so that their understanding, visual and communicative development are enhanced.

* Relevant and proven experience of working with children
