Application Support Specialist

BHP Information Technology Ltd are a small owner managed IT company in Sheffield. We are a Sage Business Partner and Microsoft Partner and Software house, and have been providing business solutions to our varied customer base throughout the UK since 1999.

We have a vacancy for a highly motivated individual to join our company, initially office based in a support capacity, whilst you learn about the software and services that we provide and get to know our customer base, but later becoming partly field based.

Our ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with an enthusiasm for IT and software services.

Key Responsibilities will be:

• To provide support to existing customer base

• Log requests for help following company procedure

• Take ownership of issues from initial contact to resolution

• Involvement in project work where required

  Knowledge/Skills and Experience

• Experience in a customer support/services environment

• High level of attention to detail

• Good task management skills

• Customer facing, both on telephone and in person.

  Essential Skills – knowledge of:

• Windows Client and Server (Windows 7, 8, 8.1/Server 2008/12)

• Network architecture (Switches, routers, DHCP, DNS configuration)

• Backup and restore processes

• Logical and Analytical approach to problem solving

  Proven skills in:

• Customer Care

• Time Management

• Communications (oral & written)

• Use of relevant IT and software

Any exposure to SQL Server or Exchange Server (either on-premise or Office365) would be advantageous, as would an understanding of accounting principles and/or familiarity with Sage SME software, Sage 50/Payroll/200. The successful candidate would be expected to become fully conversant with the latter within a short space of starting employment with the company. Any existing Microsoft or Sage qualifications will add favourably to your application.

This is a key support role within our company, and provides the customers their first point of contact with us, so you must be professional and presentable with a can do attitude.

A full clean UK driving license is also essential for this role.
