Agricultural Technician

A vacancy has arisen for a person to join a small hard-working team at Stockbridge Technology Centre Ltd (STC) carrying out and reporting on plant trials.

STC is an applied research and development facility wholly owned by the UK Horticultural Industry. Facilities comprise high security glasshouses, LED facility and vertical farm unit, poly-tunnels and 75 hectares of grade 2 land for outdoor trials and demonstration purposes. With Official Recognition and GLP compliance, STC offers top class research and development facilities and expertise to help improve the sustainability, efficiency and productivity of the UK agriculture and horticulture industry.

Agricultural Technician Role:

• To manage short and long- term studies involving plants.
• To undertake all aspects of trial management from sowing, spraying, assessing, harvesting and writing detailed reports.

Agricultural Technician Requirements:

• Good standard of education.
• Ideally a qualification in horticulture, but a general interest in horticulture or plant science and ability to work accurately and to agreed deadlines is important.
• PA1 and PA6 desired.
• Demonstration of the ability to write reports that are clear and accurate – training and support will be available.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
