Salary: 13.45 per hour
Temporary: 3 months
Full time: 35 hours per week
Job Purpose
This is a key role within the Admissions team of a prestigious university based in Central London, co-ordinating and supporting all aspects of the admissions process.
* To assess and evaluate applications against set criteria, making appropriate Admissions decisions.
* To effectively convert applicants to enrolled students in conjunction with other team members and the Admissions Manager.
* To provide a friendly and efficient service to all applicants throughout the admissions and registration process.
* To effectively develop and operate the existing admissions process and systems, supporting the marketing function.
Main Responsibilities
1. Take responsibility for the Admissions Processes
* Data entry
* Decisions
* Acceptance
* Registration
2. Review files for the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes:
* Make Admissions decisions based on submitted documentation
* Liaise with applicants to chase outstanding documentation and to answer queries
* Liaise with NARIC and other external organisations
* Liaise with Senior International Officers, Marketing Staff, Academic Staff, Student Registry, Agents and other stakeholders, where required
* Liaise with other Admissions officers over dual applications
* Have a basic understanding of UKVI Tier 4 visa and CAS rules and regulations
* Proactively engage in conversion activities to enhance student recruitment for programmes
3. Review & discuss borderline files with the Admissions Manager and Programme Directors, suggesting decisions where possible
4. Co-ordinate weekly/monthly mailings to applicants
5. Assist in dealing with incoming queries from generic email inboxes as required
6. Assist with the co-ordination of the orientation and induction processes where required
7. Meet with applicants and their families when they visit the campus, giving campus tours when requested.
8. Whilst the main duties of the role are admissions specific and will be based at the Regent’s Park campus, this role does include a maximum 1-2 weeks travel per year (UK and EU only). When attending off-campus events such as exhibitions, seminars or school visits, it will be the duty to represent Regent’s University London as a whole. Time-off in lieu will be granted where appropriate. Occasionally, the postholder will be required to give PowerPoint presentations to groups of students, visitors or school advisors in the absence of the Recruitment team. The postholder will help out at the monthly and occasional weekend on-campus Open Days and Open Evenings, giving presentations when required.
9. Supervise & train Admissions Officers and Assistants as required
10. Manage and supervise temporary staff and student workers.
11. Liaison with internal departments, in particular heads of departments and other key academic staff.
12. Build effective communication and working relationships within the external relations department.
13. Actively seek to implement the University’s Health and safety policy, and give due regard to the health and safety of themselves and others when carrying out duties.

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Educated to an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) Essential
Excellent command of the English language; must have good grammatical knowledge and accurate spelling. Essential
Ability to speak another foreign language/s. Desirable
EXPERIENCE
Administrative experience. Essential
Previous experience of working with databases, e.g. data entry, retrieval, running of reports. Essential
Previous experience working within an Admissions role for a UK or international university. Desirable
Experience of supervising and training other staff. Desirable
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Essential
Professional telephone manner and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Essential
Working knowledge of SITS. Desirable
Understanding of the UCAS application process. Desirable
