A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a candidate who is eager to join as an Accounts Assistant with our client in West Kent. The role will be to administer and co-ordinate all cash/financial related transactions for accounted Companies/Divisions maintaining traceability and control whilst assisting the Group Finance team with ad hoc administrative tasks.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Guarantee the timely and accurate payment of supplier balances ensuring that supporting paperwork is completed filled appropriately and remittances are posted in support.
  • To manage the process of ordering foreign currency. To accurately complete all traceability paperwork guaranteeing that departments across the business are able to make their payments in good time in the correct currency.
  • Reconcile company bank accounts regularly to ensure all monetary transactions are accurately recorded and accounts controlled, ensuring that monies paid in and out of accounts can be accounted for preventing the possibility of fraud.
  • Receive and prepare cheques and cash receipts for bank deposit ensuring each is paid into the correct bank account and traceability paperwork is completed, financial spreadsheets and ledgers updated. Checking that bank accounts and ledgers tally and payments verified.
  • To provide reports and assist with the daily management of the Company’s cash assets, reviewing company accounts, recording and allocating interest earnings and moving monies accordingly to maximise earnings whilst maintaining a sufficient operating cash flow. Complete and process petty cash requests, with regard to cash advances and expense payments, to ensure all relevant paperwork is accurately completed and petty cash tins are reconciled and sufficiently funded with necessary deductions being made from salaries and expense claims.
  • Assist the rest of the department with various ad hoc tasks as required
  • Comply with all relevant Company policies and procedures.

Skills, know-how and experience:

Must have:

  • Strong numeracy skills with high level of attention to detail.
  • Experience of working within an accounting department using accounts packages.
  • Intermediate excel skills with desire to improve.
  • Good Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Team spirit and ability to have fun.
  • Ability to support team as well as generating individual work of a high standard.
  • Self-motivation
  • Experience of online banking software

Desirable:

  • RenCS or SAP experience.
  • Studying AAT/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent
