About the Apprenticeship:
This is a ‘Work-Based Learning’ apprenticeship with a Software company in your area. The technical training will be undertaken at your local academy location (for up to 10 weeks across the year) as you study towards industry recognised qualifications. (Travel costs may be covered by your employer).
We are looking for exceptional applicants with a strong educational background in either Mathematics, Science or Business related subjects, with an aptitude for computing. We are also looking for candidates who have an understanding of technology and how it supports business, but most of all, who are really enthusiastic about becoming a professional Software Developer.

Job Overview:
Solution Development and Delivery
Assists in the design, coding, and testing of technical solutions.
Understands standard systems development lifecycle processes and applies our methodology effectively on client engagements.
Applies knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to our clients.
Project Execution
Understands project and development plans and is able to clearly articulate roles, project goals, and timelines
Adheres to coding standards defined by technical management.
Accurately employs our development tools.
Establishes responsible deadlines and personal work plans.
Skills Required
You will get in-depth insight and hands on experience into a range of skills and technologies such as testing, Java, .Net. C# / .Net Framework / ASP.Net / SQL / PL-SQL / ADO.Net / SQL Server / Oracle / WCF / WPF / XML / Design Patterns etc. to build multi-tier internet and intranet systems, consuming/publishing web services, data controls, web forms and windows forms applications, batch process executable and services, frameworks and data access layers (delete as appropriate)
The role involves;
Learning and applying technical skills
Analysing client processes
Understanding users and systems
Developing and delivering a solution that achieves the right result.
Training to be provided:
Software and Web Development Level 3 –
- Microsoft Technology Associate in Software Development Fundamentals (MTA)
- City & Guilds Certificate in IT Systems and Principles
- City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in IT Professional Competence
Qualifications Required: You must have 7 GSCE’s (C and above) – Maths and English is a must.
Apprenticeship Duration 12 – 14 Months
Working Week:37.5 hours (Monday – Friday, 9 – 5:30)
Personal Qualities: An enthusiastic and professional attitude and commitment to learning new skills.
Your Commitment: This apprenticeship will require dedicated and focused individuals to be fully committed to their learning. You will be working on potentially tight time scales and may be required to travel as part of your role.
Reality Check: This is a fantastic apprenticeship that will require successful candidates to be fully committed to their learning and developing their skill set.
Future Prospects: Over 90% of QA apprentices are kept on after completion of their apprenticeship programme. Additionally there may be opportunities to undertake further learning.
