Main Duties
Depending on the individual assignment and the size and complexity of the project, responsibilities might include some, or all, of the following:
- Analysis of functional requirements to identify detailed software and testing requirements.
- Scripting and running unit or system tests.
- Investigating incidents and fixing bugs.
- Coding and testing of routines, reports, queries and web pages (enhancements or new functionality).
- Progress reporting both internally and to customers
Supporting System or User Acceptance tests
Particular Personal Qualities
We are looking for school or college leavers with a good educational background in Computer Science, and / or mathematics, scientific or business related subjects with a focus on programming.
Alternatively, we are happy to speak to candidates from any academic background who are able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in programming gained from outside a formal education system (e.g. as a hobby).
All candidates should have a sound understanding of technology and an enthusiasm for how it supports business.
To thrive in this environment you will need to be an analytical thinker, enjoy solving puzzles/ problems, have an eye for detail and be enthusiastic about delivering high quality work. You will also need to have excellent communication skills and the desire to develop yourself and the self motivation to attain your career goals.
However it’s not just your academic results we’re interested in; we also want to hear about the skills you have picked up through relevant work experience, travel or positions of responsibility in or outside school.
If you are keen to progress, you will need to be flexible as future assignments could be anywhere in the UK.
In addition to the notes above, other job requirements include:
- Adaptable, self starter with ability to quickly assimilate new concepts
- Good interpersonal skills/ability to work in a team environment
- Enjoy solving problems/ puzzles and a clear desire to learn
- Flexibility
5+ years residency in UK

At the end of the programme apprentices can expect continued career development within our software development and testing teams, with the opportunity to work on projects across all of Atos’s target market sectors.

2 A-Levels at A*- E or equivalent, plus 5 GCSE’s A* – C including Maths and English
