33kv Engineeering Specialist – Electrical Distribution

We are seeking to recruit a specialised Electrical Engineering Specialist to join an Electrical Projects Team based out of Derby, W Mids.You will manage and control major project work involving plant, substation, overhead and underground systems up to 33kV, including non-operational sites. You will also be involved in planning the installation, commissioning and maintenance of protection systems up to 33kV, plus maintenance and problem solving on existing plant and equipment at voltages up to 33kV.

Your duties will include:

• Advise own and other team members on plant, civil, overhead, cable and protection activities.
• Carry out network operations up to 132kV, including the issuing of all Safety Documentation.
• Act as Nominated Person for construction contracts.
• Completion of individual tasks within a specified timescale.
• The organisation and financial monitoring of tasks.
• Select and procure test equipment.
• The procurement of non-standard equipment.
• The effective use of resources including contractors.
• Introduce new techniques and methods.
• Keep abreast of plant, civil, overhead, cable and protection developments.
• Minimising risk to the security of the distribution network.
• The impact of own activities on our customers, the public and environment.

You will have experience in carrying out complex project plans in a related discipline (Civil / Construction / Electrical / M&E Engineering) Previous experience of substation or distribution network operations at high voltage would be a significant advantage.

You will be required to visit other sites across the West Midlands area and therefore a clean driving license is essential.
