A 2nd Line Remote Night Shift Engineer is required to join an established and vibrant IT Company, supporting a variety of server and workstation based issues for external clients.
This will be a dynamic position within a fast growing organisation. You will be joining an established and experienced team of 2nd Line Support Engineers supporting a wide variety of companies ranging from City investment firms, to large corporates with all aspects of desktop and server support.
Due to the clients involved, candidates must have excellent spoken and written English and possess excellent client telephone skills.
The role offers huge variety and challenge, and involves logging, managing and resolving client issues according to specific service level agreements, using a variety of remote and onsite methods.

2nd Line Remote Night Shift Engineer
The night shift pattern is 4 days on, 4 days off and will be a home based role with escalation support as required.
Some typical activities performed are: 2nd Line Remote Night Shift Engineer
- Microsoft Software Experience Essential, Including Server 2008 Onwards, Exchange 2007 Onwards, Office 365, Windows 7 Onwards. Totally client focused keeping their interest in mind at all times
- User management through Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange (creating and managing groups)
- Setting up and configuring Windows based PCs and laptops
- Configuring and troubleshooting network connections in a LAN, WAN or on a DSL environment
- Configuring Email in an MS Outlook/Exchange Office365, including setting up a variety of client devices (laptops, tablets, phones).
- Monitoring and maintaining scheduled backups in VMware and Windows networks, using these back-ups for test and live restores
- Performing proactive maintenance checks on client infrastructure
- Monitoring client infrastructure
- Office 365 integration
- Managing assets and inventories through software tools
- Migrating clients sites and users to new infrastructures
- Producing appropriate documentation for deployments and other changes
- Previous experience of IT support and projects at 2nd line level in an ITIL environment
- Knowledge of supporting Windows XP/Vista/7/8 in a Microsoft domain environment
- Knowledge of deploying and troubleshooting / maintenance of hardware (PCs, printers etc)
- Knowledge of networking and network troubleshooting (LAN, WAN, VPN, DSL routers etc)
- Good interpersonal skills with a focus on relationship building, listening and questioning skills
- Desire to give excellent, proactive, service to clients
- Well organised and thorough eye for detail
- Ability to work autonomously
- Successful application will be subject to an advanced CRB check and satisfactory references
