We are looking for Animal Technicians to join our successful temporary contract division.

What does it take to join this successful team?

Duties will include:
• Cage cleaning and washing
• Feeding and watering
• General health checking
• Handling animals

Q: Why are S3 Science animal technicians paid an hourly rate on a temporary contract and not permanently employed?

A: We never employ our animal technicians on a zero or minimum hour’s permanent employment contract as we strongly believe they are misleading and unfair. Exactly the same as being on temporary contract you will not be paid when you are not working (as the commitment is for zero or minimum hours) yet you remain legally bound by the permanent contracts restrictive clauses. Unfortunately this usually means being on call to work any hours and at any location at short notice. If you refuse to accept a role or assignment location you will have broken your “permanent” contract and can be dismissed – not good for your future employment. Finally the majority of the salaries that many of these permanent contracts offer are no better than minimum wage, for example £26,000 per year equates £26,000 per year (anything less than £12,500 is lower than the minimum wage).

Our animal technicians are all employed on easy to read temporary employment contracts. We clearly show the hourly rates paid including overtime rates for a fixed minimum number of hours each week unique to each assignment. This equates to a higher equivalent pa salary* plus you get to pick and choose the locations and roles that suit you best.

* We offer the highest rates of pay available today for new temporary animal technicians: Our lowest Salary: s start at between £26,000per year to £26,000 per year equating to £26,000 per year.
