Salary: £30,000 – £37,200 per year

CNC PROGRAMMER (Offline), Nottinghamshire, Permanent

EMBS Engineering has been selected by one of our prestigious clients to identify a skilled CNC Programmer who is looking for a new, exciting, challenging opportunity within a growing, well-established precision engineering business located in Nottingham.

The chosen candidate will join an existing team of talented individuals whereby they will be responsible for creating programs (90% offline) for CNC Turning machines to produce safety-critical, small to medium sized sub-assembly components that are supplied into high profile, lucrative market leaders within the aerospace & defence industries.

Offline & Online Programming (90% offline)

This role is suited to skilled CNC Programmers who possess the ability to program offline using Mazatrol and/or Fanuc controls, whilst also having the ability to prove out programs through simulation software within Mazatrol & Fanuc or online at the machine.

Suitable commutable locations include; Sheffield, Nottingham, Chesterfield, North Derbyshire, Newark, North Leicester and other surrounding areas.

Responsibilities;

Producing programs for CNC Turning machines through Mazatrol & Fanuc software
Working closely with the Engineering and production teams to ensure that CAD / CAM Programs are utilising shop floor best practises
Support NPI & Continuous Improvement activities within the engineering department
Assist in the investigation of the root cause for non-conforming products and the implementation of corrective and preventive action for NPI first offs and production runs
Prove out programs both manually and through offline simulation software
Design jigs, fixtures and work holdings
Take ownership of the control and management of the programs for the Turning Cell
Support new bid activities
Support change control and contract review processes

Successful applicants MUST be able to demonstrate:

Strong machining background within CNC Turning
Ability to program online using Mazatrol and/or Fanuc controls
Ability to program offline using Mazatrol and/or Fanuc controls
Ability to prove out programs manually online at the machine or through simulation software
Experience using Catia or Unigraphics is desirable but not essential
Creation 2D & 3D models 
Design jigs, fixtures and work holdings 
Confidence in reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Knowledge of GD&T
Background of working on Mazak machines would be advantageous
Worked within precision engineering environments, machining parts or producing programs for lucrative industry sectors such as; aerospace, motorsport, medical, defence, oil & gas, petrochemical, power etc.
Involved in the machining of metals – titanium, aluminium, various grades of stainless steel etc.
Machined small to medium-sized precision components in small to medium batch sizes

This position would be ideal for a talented CNC programmer who is looking to come off the tools / machines, into an engineering / office environment but still have the connection and technical responsibilities of working closely with the machines.
