About the Role : We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Legal Cashier to join our busy Accounts Team at Richard Nelson LLP. This role is central to ensuring the smooth and compliant financial operation of the Firm, with a focus on accurately managing client and office accounting in line with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules. Working closely with our Cashiering Team Supervisor, Office Manager and wider legal departments, you will be responsible for processing daily financial transactions, preparing bills, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end and year-end processes. This is a hands-on, detail-focused position suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance. As part of a supportive and collaborative team, you will contribute to the effective financial management of the Firm while helping to ensure excellent service for both internal colleagues and clients. responsibilities and accountabilities: Keeping up to date with and working in accordance with the Solicitors’ accounts rules. Data inputting into relevant accounts and computer systems. Raising and processing bills & credit notes Posting business incomings and outgoings. Raising cheques for office and client account. Processing purchase ledger invoices. Bank account reconciliations. Performing credit control
duties . Assisting with month-end and year-end reporting. Assisting with the preparation and submission of VAT returns Assisting in the preparation of consultants’ schedules and their billing and payments. Assisting the various Teams with managing their fee notes & payment plans To work as part of a team with the Firms: Partners, Solicitors, Legal Assistants and support staff as and when appropriate. To undertake relevant research that the firm may require. Comply with the solicitors’ rules of conduct where appropriate. To attend external and internal training courses as necessary. To adhere to the administrative procedures set out in the office manual and any other procedures which may be periodically introduced. Essential
Requirements Qualifications &
Experience Previous
experience in Accounts or a Legal Cashiering role Understanding of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules Strong general accounting knowledge, ideally within a legal or professional services environment Good level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and (preferably) legal accounts or case management systems
Skills High attention to detail with excellent accuracy when processing financial data Strong organisational and time-management
skills , with the ability to prioritise effectively Clear and professional written and verbal communication
