Check the weekly returns (Forms WR1/WR2 & WR3) from centres for completeness and numerical accuracy.

Verify that the returns for income agree with the paying-in slips and banking date and that all the supporting receipts and documentation is provided. Ensure that all receipts have been recorded, and query any discrepancies with Centres

Verify that there is full supporting documentation for payments, that payments have been properly authorised, funding has been approved, and they are in accordance with Salvation Army policies and procedures. Ensure that all cheques have been recorded, and query any discrepancies with Centres

Verify that the account codes used for both income and expenditure are correct and appropriate. Advise Centres of details where incorrect codes have been submitted.

Ensure the VAT analysis for payments is correct with reference to the invoices.

Input data into Agresso system in accordance with procedures. Ensure that narration is appropriate and meaningful. Review and verify input against reports before posting & print appropriate reports for review by supervisor.

Post data to Agresso and file all documentation in accordance with office requirements

Follow up all queries with centre managers and administrators to ensure that they are responding to them and that they are aware of issues arising from Weekly Returns submissions.

Undertake other duties as required by line manager.

Person specification

*Numerate and literate with a minimum of two good ‘A’ levels and GCSE Maths & English grade C or above (or equivalent).
*IT literate with good working experience of MS Office
*Understanding of basic accountancy concepts and experience of sophisticated accounting systems
*Good oral and written communication skills and experience with working with non-finance staff
*Attention to details and accuracy
*Good organisational skills and ability to work as part of a team
*Sympathy with the aims and objectives of The Salvation Army is essential
