Job overview

The Account Manager is responsible for servicing a defined set of clients successfully and profitably. They are accountable for maintaining their client accounts to ensure the desired results are achieved, the most efficient resources are used and all stakeholders involved are satisfied. They have responsibility for creating exceptional client deliverables by utilising Account Executive capacity and coaching junior team members. Account Managers produce high quality reports, finding the best ways to represent data to help their clients make good decisions utilising support and guidance from the Account Directors. The Account Manager is responsible for ensuring client retention and identifying growth potential of existing client revenue.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Servicing client accounts with day-to-day needs, ongoing tracking and ad hoc requirements
  • Final approval and send out of ongoing tracking reports, completed by Account Executives
  • Strategic analysis report development with Account Director support
  • Utilising resources through the effective organisation of Account Executives
  • Line managing, coaching and developing Account Executives
  • Supporting Account Directors in team resource planning
  • Escalating road blocks to Account Directors in a timely manner with suggestions for solutions
  • Retention and opportunities for revenue growth of existing client base
  • Assisting in development of briefs for new and existing clients
  • Implementing account briefs successfully
  • Taking full responsibility and ownership for smaller client accounts
  • Where account ownership is held, ensuring all contracts are signed and up-to-date
  • Creating meeting summaries (when no junior is present), signing off (when no senior present) and communicating to clients/team
  • Supervising and setting deadlines with Lead Analyst to ensure accurate and timely analysis
  • Creating proposals for ad hoc client work, and agreeing pricing with client / Account Director
  • Communicating client project and ad hoc costs for invoicing to Account Director and Accounts
  • Communicating effectively vertically in both directions
  • Ensuring Analyst efficiency metrics are run by Lead Analyst and findings are acted upon
  • Where account ownership is held, ensuring account team utilises best practice processes for optimum efficiency.

Experience and qualifications

Essentials:

  • At least two years’ experience in Marketing, Market Research, Communications or PR
  • At least two years’ experience supporting client accounts
  • Proven research and analytical skills – as part of a university project such as a dissertation or examples of work place experience.
  • An academic degree (Bachelors, preferably a Masters) in Marketing, Communications, Media, Business Administration or Social Sciences
  • Developed research, analytic and proofreading skills with at least two years’ professional experience
  • Excellent written and spoken English with comprehensive understanding of grammar
  • In-depth, working knowledge of MS Office and SPSS

Beneficial:
