Due to the continued growth of the company, as the economy continues to recover, the company requires a technically strong accountant to improve the strength of our small accounting team. Under the guidance of the Finance Director, and working closely with the other finance and IT team members, this role will gradually take responsibility for the financial accounting, taxation and statutory reporting requirements for group companies.
This role must ensure that the financials accurately reflect the profitability of the business, with particular emphasis on stock and margins, and will also play a major part in assisting the relevant management teams in understanding their cost base, maximising utilisation and efficiency of resources, and managing working capital.
Responsibility:
The objective will be to take responsibility for the monthly management accounting and year end reporting packs. The role includes:
* Statutory accounts including consolidations.
* Monthly management reports for all businesses to deadlines set.
* Weekly reporting to Management team on Orders, Sales, Output, Productivity, Purchase Price Variances and Stocks.
* Overhead cost reporting working with managers to control and minimise cost where applicable.
* Credit Management and Credit Control (credit control is limited due to the capital nature of our sales)
* Procedures and policies, including HR
* Stock and cost accounting to ensure verification of stock values working closely with Material Control and Estimating.
* Overhead cost reporting working with managers to control and minimise cost where applicable.
* Management of VAT, PAYE & NI, and Corporation Tax.
* Payroll for specific areas of the business
* Administration support for HR, insurances and vehicles.
Systems
* The main businesses use an integrated Manufacturing system called EFACs which includes the financials
* Smaller businesses use Sage 50 accounting
* Payroll is also on Sage.

Qualifications, skills and aptitudes:
1) Qualified or part qualified CIMA or ACCA or ACA (exam assistance provided)
2) Educated to degree level
3) Particularly strong technical financial accounting skills already demonstrated, probably within practice.
4) Advanced excel skills
5) Good communication skills from shop floor to boardroom, customer to supplier.
6) Fast learner and achiever but clearly a good team player.
7) Confidence in both internal but also external customer communications.
8) Ambitious and driven
