jobs.ac.uk, a leading global jobs board for academic, research and science careers, is looking for a creative mind to join the busy advert design team
We are looking for a creative individual with excellent web based design skills to design and create a number of digital recruitment advertising products for our customers including online job adverts, recruitment microsites and web buttons for the jobs.ac.uk website. You will ensure the validity of all design work across multiple browsers and devices, ideally using responsive design techniques, and also delivering products to a high standard and on time.
To be successful you will have a good understanding of web usability, a passion for design and a commitment to customer care. You will have the ability to hand-code semantic XHTML and CSS, have a good knowledge of Javascript and experience of using graphics packages such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to manipulate images.
Duties and responsibilities
To design, create and upload digital recruitment advertising onto the jobs.ac.uk website, including:
- Hand coding in XHTML and CSS
- Creating a design from scratch, ensuring that customers’ corporate style and branding is mirrored or replicating design from print adverts, creating a full html version for the website
- Use of Javascript to implement Google Analytics tracking code for the measurement of enhanced product performance
- Ensuring that any design work takes into account the different types of devices that users could be viewing the site
To work as part of a team to deliver larger and longer term advertising campaigns whereby design, creation and upload of web pages such as enhanced adverts and editorial is required.
- This can include recruitment micro sites as well as advertising packages.
Skills and experience
- Excellent web based design skills and a flair for creative design
- Experience of design and development of web pages
- Ability to handcode semantic XHTML and CSS and be standards compliant
- Knowledge and experience of graphics packages such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
- Knowledge and experience of Javascript
- Excellent communication skills in both written and oral English including the ability to communicate technical issues in an accessible and supportive way
- Ability to prioritise workload and work within strict deadlines
- Excellent general IT and Technical knowledge

Argent Court, Warwick Science Park
Start date and predicted end date of role
June 2014 for 3 months
Rate of pay (please see attachment for reference)
£26,000 per year plus £1.12 holiday pay, equivalent to £26,000 per year.
Hours and days of work
Minimum 20 hours per week, exact shifts to be confirmed dependant on candidate experience and demands of post.
