My client is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join the Finance team, control the accounts payable process and support other accounting processes. This is a permanent position with remuneration of £24,000 to £30,000 per annum depending on experience.

The Role

  • Checking and coding all purchase invoices (Sterling, US$ and Euro).
  • Ensure all invoices are authorised by respective departmental managers.
  • Match invoice and delivery notes, investigate differences and make necessary adjustments (e.g. credit note request from supplier or stock adjustment etc.)
  • Post all matched and authorised invoices into Exchequer system.
  • Prepare weekly supplier payments, send remittance to supplier and update system.
  • Post cheques and direct debit payment to the ledger.
  • Reconciliation of daily debtor receipt and prepare banking for the day (Cheques and cash).
  • Weekly bank reconciliation.
  • Maintain schedule for credit card expenses, sales rep expenses, vehicle fuel and other cost and utility bills.
  • Support year end audit by providing expense / purchase schedules, reports etc.
  • Support accounts team when required including driver cash reconciliation.

The Candidate

  • have a great balance of accuracy and efficiency
  • be numerate with some accounts experience
  • be comfortable working in Excel and Word and quick to learn Exchequer
  • have an energetic and positive outlook
  • work well in a team, and with our colleagues in other departments (Procurement, Operations & Delivery Drivers, Sales & Telesales, etc)
  • be willing to go the extra mile where it helps the business & others
  • benefit if they have been involved in improving processes or systems
  • be able to start immediately or very short notice period

Hours of work: 40 per week excluding lunch, e.g. 9am to 6pm (inc 1 hour lunch), flexibility needed during busy times.
