Role Overview

The Technical Support Manager will be responsible for directing, coordinating, planning and organising IT operations and Network Security for an organisation based in Kingston upon Hull, Humberside. This role will be solely responsible for all IT support and maintenance across 13 sites. Previous similar experience is necessary.

Duties to include:

• Set up an asset register covering all IT related equipment (PC, laptop, printer, etc) and software licences
• Conducting a software audit of all assets
• Ensuring workstation security by application of anti-virus software, Windows Update, creating an admin user on each machine, removing administrative rights to users and ensuring strong password authentication is required.
• Install anti-virus software on all workstations, servers, laptops etc
• Investigate and improve the WAN/LAN infrastructure at all sites
• Restrict access to the internet for all IT systems via a web proxy and set up internet surfing controls such that restrictions can be placed on malicious web sites
• Investigate and where necessary make recommendations for securing and ongoing support of the AS400 server and associated software.
• Regularly review access levels for all accounts on a) Network and b) AS400 and c) Financial Server
• Ensure all servers are regularly backed up, and test backups to ensure that the restore process is acceptable.
• Investigate the use of Dropbox software within the business, currently installed on the main Hull server – who, when and why.
• Creating and documenting procedures for all aspects of IT operation within the business.
• Investigate and make recommendations for improvement of the telephony infrastructure of the ongoing business.

Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of AS400 and Windows operating systems.
• Knowledge of Network Security and Antivirus products
• Experience of managing a multi-site network.
