We have an incredibly exciting opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join our head office based in Croydon. 

A new opportunity has arisen within the accounts team for a well-established bespoke Kitchen company. We have 28 retail stores within the UK and are looking for an Accounts Assistant who will work within a team of 4 and be responsible for accurate sales/purchase invoice postings for both retail and production company, bank rec, accruals/prepayments, Fixed asset reconciliation for month end, replying to supplier and sales designer enquiries in timely manner. This is a great opportunity for someone who has previous accounting experience and looking develop and progress.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operation of all ledgers including general ledger, purchase ledger and sales ledger.
  • Receiving, processing, seeking authorization for and paying all supplier invoices.
  • Processing month end journals; Accruals/prepayments and fixed assets
  • Raising weekly and monthly BACS payment runs.
  • Staff expenses and credit card postings
  • Ensuring all customer payments are reconciled and properly recorded.
  • Maintaining good working relationships with all suppliers, customers and showroom staff.
  • Dealing with enquiries from suppliers, customers and colleagues within the business.
  • Basic administration duties as and when required.
  • Meeting month end deadlines.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ high transaction volume based experience as an Accounts Assistant.
  • In time other higher responsibilities & opportunities can be created for the right individual.

Key Measures

  • Ability to maintain clear and accurate financial record.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • CIS exposure or knowledge is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work to deadline, to multi-task and prioritise effectively.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to in-house systems.
  • Preferably studying towards AAT/ACCA/CIMA.
  • Knowledge of Excel (moderate level required).
