We are looking for an Accountant to investigate suspected serious and complex fraud effectively working within a multi-disciplinary team made up of investigators, lawyers, accountants, IT experts and Counsel. The post holder will be the lead on fraud investigations and analyse, interpret, summarise and present complex financial matters in a manner which is both understandable and properly supported.
Main Responsibilities: –
*Reporting to a case controller, and working closely with colleagues to contribute to overall investigation strategies as well as leading on financial investigations.
*Drafting formal financial investigation strategies.
*Investigating and analysing complex, multi-jurisdictional money trails.
*Developing spreadsheets to assist in the analysis and presentation of financial evidence.
*Producing key financial witness statements for the cases and subsequently giving evidence in Court where required.
*Tasking junior investigators with particular emphasis on financial analysis work.
*Conducting interviews with witnesses on a voluntary basis or using compulsory powers and taking witness statements.
*Conducting interviews with suspects under PACE.
*Complying with standards in relation to the recording, management and control of documentary evidence.
*Managing quality assurance across all aspects of the financial investigations.
*Assisting with the disclosure process in order to satisfy the obligations of the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 as required.
Experience Required: –
*Possession of a relevant accounting qualification
*Ability to analyse, interpret, summarise and present complex financial information in a manner which is both understandable and properly supported
*Experience of writing witness statements or reports in an investigative context
*Ability to develop spreadsheets to assist in the analysis and presentation of financial evidence
*Significant experience of operating in a complex, multi-strand investigative environment
*Effective use of MS Office, including Word and Excel
*Experience of giving evidence in court, clearly and convincingly
*Knowledge of relevant criminal law and investigative procedure and an understanding of the criminal justice system
*Experience of supervising and guiding investigative teams
