2nd Line Engineer – Linux
Location: City of London
Salary: Up to £48K + 10% Bonus + Benefits
A leading global IT & Telecoms managed service provider has an opening for a 2nd Line Engineer based from the City of London network operations centre (NOC). The role will include Second Line Support of Desktops, Servers, Load-balancers, Firewalls, NAS (Network Attached Storage), Content Delivery and other devices. As a 2nd Line Engineer you will also be responsible for managing escalations from First Line to ensure the prompt and satisfactory resolution of Customer Support cases. Up to £42,000 Base with 10% Bonus and attractive benefits package. Based from the City of London offices.

They offer a full range of Telecommunications, Data Networking, Cloud, Data Centre and Managed ICT services to some of the world’s largest corporations. As part of their continued success they have an opening for a 2nd Line Engineer.
Key responsibilities for the 2nd Line Engineer include:
- Provide 2nd Line Support for ICT customer base via telephone, email and online tickets.
- Support, maintain, and improve customer services
- Provide accurate and timely diagnosis and rectification of customer faults.
- Resolve or escalate problems and service requests according to established procedures
- Work proactively to ensure prompt resolution of support cases and the highest possible levels of customer satisfaction
- Following training, demonstrate clear skills with employed technologies.
- Standard hours for the role at Monday – Friday (09:00-17:30) based from the City of London offices.
- You will be part of an on call rota and will be on call at home 1 week in 6 over the night and weekend instead of coming into the office.
As a 2nd Line Engineer you will have the following experience:
- Linux (preferably Redhat Enterprise and Debian) with experience providing remote support and troubleshooting using Linux commands.
- DNS (Domain Name System)
- TCP/IP
- Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) and / or Apache
