Our Team

Operational Risk Management is a dynamic, exciting, and growing team at the heart of Virgin Money. The team plays a vital role in ensuring that the business manages operational risk through oversight, assurance and business partnering. Core accountabilities include, establishing the change framework and ensuring payment risk, technology and cyber risk, and third-party risk are mitigated and appropriately managed.

What you’ll be doing

  • This is a high-profile role, with senior level exposure, in which you’ll need to leverage all your data skills to deliver real impact and to help improve Virgin Money’s operational risk profile.
  • Managing relationships at all levels within the Risk department and across 1st line functions.
  • Active oversight and constructive challenge of data related risks, issues, and key controls, ensuring a disciplined approach to risk management.
  • Working with 1st Line to ensure that the Data Management Policy is fully embedded within Virgin Money and is being complied with.
  • Staying abreast of industry developments, in best practice data management and emerging technologies, and ensuring these best practices are socialised within Virgin Money.
  • Oversight of data related aspects of change programs
  • Contributing high quality insight and opinion to Risk Management reporting at all levels, such as Operational Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee.

We need you to have

  • In depth, practitioner level experience of Data risk management within Banking or Financial Services.
  • A formal professional qualification in a data related discipline.
  • Well-developed and honed confidence and influencing skills in dealing with executives and senior management.
  • A breadth of experience in data related concepts such as DCAM, BCBS239, General Data Protection Regulations, Cloud considerations etc.
  • The ability to take a forensic approach to solving data problems and the ability to identify opportunities for improvement.

It’s a bonus if you have but not essential

  • Knowledge of working with Industry leading meta data tools.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and Six Sigma management techniques.
