We are searching for a BID and Estimating Engineer to join our design team based in Ireland with a technical background in Security or Electronic Security. This is the ideal opportunity for someone who has some experience and is ready for the next step. This is a hybrid position that will require 1-2 days in the Dublin office and European travel may be required.
About the RoleWhat you will do…
- Formulate an engineered estimate and or budget for new and existing clients that shall be provided by consultants, engineers, construction managers, and general contractors and from in-house Sales Representatives, Key Account Representatives and or Project Managers.
- Estimate installation costs in conjunction with Implementation Operations, Service Operations, Internal Labor, and External Labor.
- Review of Field Site Survey documents and drawings.
- Supports the RFI, RFP, RFQ as needed.
- Create estimates and budgets for access control, intrusion, VMS, intercom, PSIM, and structured cabling systems.
- Review architectural, electrical, telecommunication, security engineering floor plans, riser drawings, device schedules, detail drawings, interconnect, and closet layout drawings.
- Interpret specifications, addendums, revisions, sketches, and Scope of work.
- Create a detailed list of clarifications, exclusions & compliance on a per project basis
- Work with Bid manager, project managers and design consultants for creating change orders on existing and ongoing projects.
- Manage assigned projects, maintain deadlines and compliance requirements for each project.
- Build and maintain a good relationship with coworkers, suppliers, and manufacturers.
- Support and represent the business in its internal and external efforts and overall mission to lead from the front and increase the quality and standards.
- In-frequent visits to jobsites are required. Minimal overnight travel maybe required.
Essential SkillsWhat you will need…
- A technical background in Security or Electronic Security.
- EU citizen (please note sponsorship cannot be provided for this position.
- Good electrical aptitude and understanding, with the ability to read schematics and drawings.
- Must be a self-starter and work well without supervision.
- Good understanding of workload and the requirements to maintain commitments.
- Ability to assemble all cost aspects of a project and challenge labor bids from subs for various labor categories.
- Strong computer skills including exposure to MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of Bluebeam would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of construction industry conventions would be advantageous.
- Valid clean driver’s license required.
