We at Solar Gates UK, (an award-winning company in Kent), are a market leader in mobile, solar powered security and site safety to our highways and railways clients throughout the UK. Through constant use and development of innovative technology, two new brands, INSTABOOM and SOSEC, have been developed showcasing the world’s first mobile solar anti incursion and overhead asset protection systems for highways and construction.

Due to sales growth of key client projects and the need for agility in these divisions, our in-house manufacture operation needs to be taken to the next level. We are looking for an experienced production manager, with an enquiring and process driven mind, to develop and maximise the performance of a growing team with amazing possibilities ahead. The Position

  • Responsibility for all fabrication and assembly operations at our Maidstone head office.
  • Management of technical helpdesk operations with a customer-focused approach.
  • Planning a dynamic schedule of work to balance manufacturing and field teams to meet customer expectations
  • Work in accordance with and develop ISO 9001 and 45001 processes, in an environment with high levels of compliance expectation.
  • Improving efficiency and focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Manage supply chain (automation, steel, coating etc) to ensure timely delivery.
  • Develop, train and motivate a team to improve productivity and achieve delivery targets.
  • Work with other departments for design and product marketing
  • Produce management reports in line with KPI and SMT expectations.
  • 40 hours per week, PRP bonus, pension, overtime and healthcare

The Person

  • Creative, curious, can-do attitude. A true professional.
  • Relevant engineering or manufacturing background in fabrication, automation or construction.
  • High attention to detail with ‘no questions’ attitude to quality.
  • Hands-on experience with machine tools, fabrication and electronics assembly
  • Experience in a relevant management role, ideally with change management
  • Self-starter, energetic and excellent IT skills.
  • 6 sigma and LEAN experience
  • Flexible and stress-resilient personality
  • Natural focus on processes and continuous improvement
  • Team motivator and leader by example
  • UK Driving licence
  • Team player with personality!
