We are recruiting for a Protection and Control Engineer to work within our Power and Automation Controls Engineering Team at our head office in Irlam. The P&C Engineer will provide expertise to the team in all aspects of Power Systems protection, they will have strong experience in the design and application of protection to HV transmission systems, distribution networks and power stations, as well as being able to undertake fault level calculations and protection settings for complex power systems and participate in factory acceptance tests.
Within this role your responsibilities will include
* Project Management including organising contract reviews, project plans, budgets & resource allocation.
* Production of detailed engineering solutions in line with customers’ scope of works.
* Specification of bills of materials for secondary design.
* Production of Circuit Diagrams, General Arrangements & Interface engineering diagrams.
* Provision of technical support to other staff members.
* Contribution to feasibility studies for transmission
* Production of tender specification for Protection and Control (P&C)
* Production of detailed design drawings for Protection and Control schemes
* Checking of detailed design drawings
* Carrying out fault studies for transmission projects and calculating protection settings using these results
* Checking of fault studies and protection setting results

Person Specification:
* Previous experience in a similar protection and control-related role
* Educated to HND/Degree level and ideally chartered or working towards chartership
* Qualifications to National Grid TP141 qualified Commissioning Engineer / Officer.
* Good working knowledge of HV equipment
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* A confident team leader and mentor
