Skilled Careers Search & Selection are currently working with a leading main contractor that are recruiting for a Trainee/Assistant Estimator to work on social housing schemes in London and the surrounding counties. My client are a dynamic organisation with secured order books and turnover of over £150m based in South London.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee/Assistant Estimator to join my clients estimating team. The flourishing team takes responsibility for the estimating of social housing refurbishment projects to ensure commercial delivery across a range of schemes. The works undertaken might include external and internal works to social housing, including kitchen and bathroom upgrades, window and roof replacements, cladding works and brick and concrete repairs.

The Trainee/Assistant Estimator will be working within a fast paced environment and work as part of a team to successfully complete projects within budget. The Trainee/Assistant Estimator will be provided with excellent personal development opportunities delivered through both in house and on the job training and may also be provided with the opportunity to further their qualifications with external training also. My client are able to offer personal growth and development for the suitable Trainee/Assistant Estimator.

The ideal Trainee/Assistant Estimator will be degree qualified or have previous estimating experience and have good Excel and Word skills. The Trainee/Assistant Estimator should also have a good understanding of:

– Cost estimating for tenders
– Pricing of tenders from scratch
– Programming of tenders
– Method statements
– Production of cost data

Significant training and development will be provided as part of this role, so above all the Trainee/Assistant Estimator will have the want to learn new skills and demonstrate a positive and outgoing personality.
