Our client is the UK’s leading operator of purpose built student accommodation. They are now on the lookout for a Java Developer to join their team.

Working with the latest technologies, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to make their mark on the success, growth and functionality of our client’s online services.

As a Java Developer, you will be responsible for delivering and supporting all development activities on our client’s online platform. This will include customer and corporate websites, the content management system and overseeing online integration with core applications.

Working alongside the Digital Marketing and Communications Teams, you’ll develop innovative new features that meet requirements and enhance functionality and user experience. Keeping fully up-to-date with industry trends, you’ll encourage customer engagement, conversion and transactional opportunities.

Additionally, providing 2nd line support for customer and corporate websites, you’ll investigate and troubleshoot any reported incidents and ensure that they are resolved in a timely manner.

Your other duties will include:

– Ensuring that systems are available and stable
– Continuously improving development and delivery methods
– Conducting acceptance testing of application enhancements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

– At least two years’ programming experience in a commercial environment using J2EE, JSP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
– Experience of working with both technical and business stakeholders
– Experience of SCM and issue tracking tools
– Knowledge of jQuery, AJAX and SQL
– Knowledge of Agile and/or Scrum development
